The Dual Tragedy of 9/11 by Michael Yu, Jun 13, 2008 (7:10pm)

There is no doubt that the 9/11 attack, much like the attack on Pearl Harbor, will continue to haunt us for the years to come. As we watched the WTC twin towers crumble, we were stricken with the pain and sorrow of loss. We cheered for the unity that our country showed – for the heroic volunteers who rushed in to Ground Zero to provide aid for victims of the attack. We will forever remember these heroes for their selflessness and sacrifice; heroes who risked their own health and lives to save many others. It has been nearly 7 years since those tragic days. Yet, it seems like these heroes have already been forgotten by our government. We call them our heroes yet Congress has been slow to provide aid and benefit for those victims. This bill will help in alleviating some of the suffering of the volunteers and help ensure that they will live to see the day the WTC rises from the ashes.
