Just in time... by Jackson V, Dec 18, 2008 (7:40am)

Just in time for the holiday season, gamers and other folks who use payday loans responsibly have another reason to get their hands on a PS3 PlayStation: “Home” has launched in open beta. Home is essentially a cross between “Second Life” and Nintendo’s Mii avatars. PS3 users receive their own customizable avatars and virtual homes. Then they can chat via text and voice with and host friends online, find gaming buddies, buy and display virtual décor and goodies. The service is free, but clothing, furniture, and other toys will be sold through real money transactions. The free service is still in beta, but should be available to PS3 users worldwide by the end of the day on December 11. Nintendo Wii launched with support for player avatars and the Xbox 360 added avatar and related features with its November 2008 New Xbox Experience update. But PlayStation Home appears more sophisticated in its virtual world. The world features mini-games, in-world music options, trophy rooms and advertiser-supported locations. Whether or not Home will be a killer app for the PS3 remains to be seen. Some are grumbling that it looks like a virtual world where avatars try to sell you stuff you don’t need. Others, similar to those who see the value of no fax payday loans, are much more open-minded and hopeful that Home will be an online home away from home. Click to read more on Payday Loans.
