States inspect meat and poultry by Anna Costello-Dougherty, Jul 22, 2008 (12:45am)
This bill will allow states to transport and sell their meat across state borders without having to be inspected by the federal inspectors if it has been inspected by state authorities that have requirements equal to federal inspection requirements. States are also partially reimbursed for inspection costs. Allowing states to to the meat and poultry inspections will enable smaller farms to expand their market.
