Any filters applied to this page are applied to the download file as well. (The "CSV" in "Download CSV" stands for "comma-separated values," a file format that almost any spreadsheet program can read.)

Data in a spreadsheet

  • Viewing the file in a spreadsheet, each row is one contribution. The spreadsheet columns are:
  1. Legislator: Member of Congress who received the contribution.
  2. Party: The legislator's political party: Democrat, Republican, or Independent.
  3. Represents: The state they represent in Congress, and Senate or House (e.g. "Ohio Senate").
  4. Vote: How they voted on the motion shown at the top of this web page.
  5. Contribution Type: PAC or non-PAC.
  6. Presidential: "Presidential" if this was a contribution to the legislator's presidential campaign, blank if it was for their congressional campaign.
  7. Contribution Amount: The dollar amount of this contribution.
  8. Contribution Date: The date of this contribution.
  9. Contributor: Name of contributor.
  10. Contributor Occupation: Occupation of contributor, from contributor's self-report when making his or her contribution.
  11. Contributor Employer: Contributor's employer, from contributor's self-report when making his or her contribution.
  12. Contributor Interest Group: Name of interest group (e.g. "Commercial banks & bank holding companies").
  13. Contributor Interest Group Code: The internal code we use for the interest group, which corresponds one-to-one with the interest group name. These same codes are used by the Center for Responsive Politics and the National Institute on Money in State Politics.
  14. Interest Group Position on...: Did the interest group of this contributor "Support" or "Oppose" the motion shown at the top of this web page.
  15. Contributor City: City of the contributor, based on contributor's self-report when making his or her contribution.
  16. Contributor State: State of the contributor, based on contributor's self-report when making his or her contribution.
  17. Contributor Zip: Zip code of the contributor, based on contributor's self-report when making his or her contribution.
