The Voter's Edge Effect
With California’s primary election behind us, we’re proud to report that 2022 marked a record year for Voter’s Edge, our comprehensive online voter guide packed with information about candidates and ballot measures from the top of the ticket down to the local level for California voters.
Voter’s Edge, available in English and Spanish, allows users to explore candidates' priorities, endorsements and top donors, as well as ballot measure explanations, campaign funding, and news stories. This year, nearly 900,000 users took advantage of our guide, an increase of nearly 80 percent compared to the 2020 primary. That’s about 1 of every 6 voters who cast ballots. Ultimately, that means voters can make informed, confident decisions – a key pillar of a healthy democracy.
Of course, the primary election is just the beginning. With the general election fast approaching, Voter’s Edge will be a key resource for California voters in the months ahead. We’ll be working with our media partners at the Los Angeles Times, KQED, KPBS, KPCC, Capital Public Radio, KCRW and others to fill the guide with valuable information about every race on the ballot. You can also use Voter’s Edge to find your polling place or vote center and can mark and print your choices to bring to the polls or share with family and friends via social media. Voter’s Edge is a joint project of MapLight and the League of Women Voters of California Education Fund.
